COUNCIL BUILDS ORGANIZATION WITH NEW TRUSTEES
RICHMOND, Va. (March 15, 2004) As the First Freedom Center Campaign moves forward, the Council for Americas First Freedom has welcomed two new members to its Board of Trustees:
Jean Boone is advertising director for the Richmond Free Press and a member of the board of directors of Paradigm Communications, Inc., which publishes the prize-winning, progressive newspaper. Mrs. Boone is active in community affairs in Richmond. She is the secretary of the board of the Carpenter Center of the Performing Arts, and a member of the boards of the Virginia Foundation for the Arts, the Arts Consortium, the Valentine Richmond History Center, and the Foundation for the Study of Architecture. She also serves on the citys Urban Design Committee, which advises the City Planning Commission.
Marilyn H. West is Chairman & CEO of M. H. West & Co., Inc., a planning and consulting company. Among the organizations where she currently serves as chair of the Board of Directors are the Bon Secours Health Care System Acute Care Board, the Richmond Hospital Authority which owns the Seven Hills Health Care Center, and Leadership Metro Richmond. She also serves as a trustee Project Exile, the Children's Museum, Atlantic Rural Exposition, Inc., the Children's Home Society, Richmond Renaissance, the Metropolitan Business League and the National Association of Women Business Owners.
About the Council: The Council for Americas First Freedom (CAFF) is a non-denominational, non-political, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Richmond, Va. Established in 1984, CAFFs mission is to champion religious freedom worldwide and to strengthen appreciation for Virginias pivotal role in Americas protection of this fundamental human right. Currently, CAFF is developing the First Freedom Center, a world-class facility that will offer a dynamic visitor experience with state-of-the-art, interactive exhibits exploring the development of religious freedom in America, and todays related national and international issues. In addition, CAFF sponsors the following annual initiatives: Presidential Proclamation of National Religious Freedom Day (January); First Freedom Awards; and Americas First Freedom Student Competition.
